Summer Financial Aid 2008
The summer session at WVU is only one term with the class start and end dates vary throughout the summer.
Most students use their financial aid for the fall and spring semesters. This leaves very limited funding for the summer session. Most summer aid is available through the Parent PLUS Loan or alternative student loans although occasionally, your subsidized or unsubsidized loans increase due to grade level changes.
The following is important information that you must consider if you decide to attend the summer term.
LOAN LIMITS
- Your Direct Loan annual eligibility is spread out over the Fall, Spring, and Summer sessions.
- Usually, all Direct Loan amounts are used for the fall and spring semesters.
- If you plan on attending the summer term, please examine your current loan amounts and contact a Financial Aid Counselor if you would like to hold some or all of your Direct Loan amounts for Summer School.
- The Summer School Financial Aid Application should be available online no later than the first week of March.
ENROLLMENT REQUIREMENTS
- Undergraduate students must register for a minimum of six hours to be awarded a Direct Loan for the summer term.
- Graduate / Professional students must register for a minimum of four hours to be awarded a Direct Loan for Summer term.
SUMMER LOAN PAYMENTS
• Your loans will not pay into your account until you begin your sixth hour of school work for undergraduates and your fourth hour for graduate/professional students.
Please check back periodically for more information regarding financial aid for the summer term.
