| Financial Aid Calendar
JANUARY- Apply for financial aid for the next academic year. If you completed a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for the previous year, you should receive a Renewal FAFSA by January 15 to reapply. If you didn't apply for aid the previous year or did not receive a renewal FAFSA, you can pick up a FAFSA at the Financial Aid Office--or you can apply on-line:Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
FEBRUARY- Entering freshman students interested in the Scholars Program must apply for admission by February 1 to be considered. February 15 is the PRIORITY DEADLINE for maximum campus based financial aid consideration. Campus based aid includes Federal Work Study, Federal Perkins Loans and SEOG grants.
MARCH 1- ABSOLUTE DEADLINE FOR MAXIMUM CONSIDERATION FOR FINANCIAL AID AT WVU. The FAFSA or renewal FAFSA must be received by the Processor by this date--this is not a postmark deadline. Applications received by the processor after this date will be considered for Pell Grants and Direct Loans, but will not be considered for Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants (SEOG), Federal Work Study or Federal Perkins Loans.
MID-MARCH TO MID-MAY- Award letters are mailed out to eligible students who apply by the March 1st deadline.
MID-MARCH to LATE JULY- Summer award notifications are mailed to students.
MID-MAY to AUGUST- Award letters are mailed to late applicants on a 'funds-available' basis.
MID-MAY to MID-JUNE - PHEAA Grant award letters are sent by the Pennsylvania Higher Education Administration directly to eligible students.
JUNE- Promissory Notes are mailed to students who have accepted loan awards.
Late JUNE- West Virginia Higher Education Grant award notices are sent to eligible students from the West Virginia Higher Education Grant Program in Charleston.
JULY- Disbursement of aid for Summer I.
LATE JULY- Billing invoices are mailed to students for the Fall semester from the Office of Student Accounts.
AUGUST- Disbursement of aid for the Fall semester. Refund checks are mailed to local addresses . Be certain to update your addresses with Admissions and Records anytime you move. If you are awarded Federal Work Study: You MUST pick up your assignment during Student Services Days even if you are a returning worker. Federal Work Study not picked up within the first 21 days of school will be CANCELED.
SEPTEMBER 16- Update Applications available for late financial aid awards. Update awards are contingent upon funding and eligibility.
EARLY DECEMBER- Tuition and fee invoices are mailed to students for the Spring semester.
JANUARY- Disbursement of Spring financial aid. Time to re-apply for financial aid for the next academic year. |
