Direct Loan Entrance Counseling
All students who wish to borrow through the federal student loan program are required to complete entrance counseling. This process is required to ensure that student loan borrowers understand their rights, responsibilities and obligations they are assuming.

Should you fail to complete the entrance counseling process, your federal student loan will not be disbursed.

Federal Perkins Loan borrowers will be contacted by the Student Loan Office at West Virginia University regarding entrance counseling for the Perkins loan.

Student's borrowing through the William D. Ford Federal Drect Loan program may complete the entrance counseling requirement for the Direct Subsidized / Unsubsidized Loan online. Please note this requirement must be completed by you the student and not your parents. Make sure you complete ALL sections of the online counseling in order for your results to be recorded. Make sure your print the confirmation page to keep for your records. WVU will retrieve your results from the Direct Loan Servicing Center.

Click here to go to the Entrance Counseling page.

Parents are not required to complete the Direct Loan Entrance Counseling for the Direct Parent PLUS Loan.
