Financial aid is made in two disbursements, half for the fall semester and half for the spring semester. If you are borrowing loan money for one semester the loan will still be made in two disbursements.
If you are a first time loan borrower or new to WVU you must complete Entrance Counseling and sign a Master Promissory Note (MPN) before your loans can be disbursed (view details in our Additional Requirements section of this website).
Please note that in most instances, there is an origination fee which is taken from your loan at the time of disbursement.
Financial aid administered through WVU’s Financial Aid Office will be applied to charges for tuition (and housing if applicable). Any funds remaining after all University charges are paid are refunded to the student according to the method the student has chosen. Please review the options available at the Office of Student Accounts website at http://finance.wvu.edu/osa.
To make sure your local address is current, check the STAR system or call Admissions & Records at (304) 293 -2124.
Most financial aid will be available at that time, however, some types of assistance coming from sources outside WVU (some state assistance and private scholarships) may be late in arriving.
It is the student’s responsibility to monitor receipt of this assistance through STAR and by contacting the Office of Student Accounts at (304) 293 – 4006.
If you are required to make a personal payment on your account, you obtain information regarding payment methods and payment plans at the Office of Student Accounts website at http://finance.wvu.edu/osa.
